Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) is an upgraded variant of last year’s Galaxy J7. One of the major change from its predecessor is the inclusion of the metal frame and a all new processor. The Galaxy device has brushed metal back with and diamond cut finish to the metal frame. The device comes in Black, Gold and White colour variants. The device weighs 170 g and measures at 151.7 x 76 x 7.8 mm.
Display & Camera
The smartphone features a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED full-HD display resulting in deeper black levels and vibrant colours. The screen offers on of the best viewing angels and good legibility even when it is placed under direct sunlight but the device does not come with any kind of protection to the display such as Gorilla Glass. In terms of imaging, the smartphone comes with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera equipped with an LED flash for capturing images and recording videos, but the device misses out on phase detection or laser auto focus technology, which makes this device a tad slow to focus and capture images back to back. The image quality is good under normal conditions but isn’t the best in its price range. The smartphone sports a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter with LED flash which is great for low-light situations. The LED flash is a unique feature that is found on very few devices.
Software & Performance
The device runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with Samsung’s custom TouchWiz UI. The device also features Multi-Window that enables you to run two applications simultaneously, one above the other. As far as performance is concerned you shouldn’t be worried as the Galaxy J7 (2016) is equipped with a 1.6 GHz octa-core Exynos 7870 chipset to deliver flawless performance, It is built on 14nm FinFET technology, that consumes very less battery compared to the processors of 28nm technology. Users can also expect to work on multiple apps at the same time as there is 2GB LPDDR3 RAM. The graphics are handled by the Mali-T830MP2 GPU with 2 graphic cores that can deliver smooth gaming performance. The Galaxy J7 (2016) has 16GB of internal storage which can further be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.
Battery & Connectivity
The Galaxy J7 (2016) is backed by a 3,300 mAh battery that keeps the smartphone powered for more than a day with moderate to heavy usage. The battery performance is among the best in its price range. There are host of connectivity options that tag along with the device which includes dual-SIM card option and both the SIM cards can work on 4G LTE simultaneously. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and a microUSB 2.0 port.
